Lockdown Update September 2021 - Reconfirmation process for JobSaver & the Micro-business Grant
1) Commonwealth Covid Disaster Payments to workers until lockdown ends or hours of work improve
Workers who have lost between 8-20 hours of work will receive a disaster payment of $375 a week.
Those who have lost more than 20 hours will get $600.
Eligibility is only if all the following apply;
you can’t attend work and lost income on or after day 8 of a COVID-19 restriction of movement event
you don’t have access to appropriate paid leave entitlements through your employer
you’re not getting an income support payment, ABSTUDY Living Allowance, Dad and Partner Pay or Parental Leave Pay
you're not getting a state or territory pandemic payment, Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment or state small business payment for the same period.
Support Available for Business
1) Businesses Support Payments
Employer Entities, including not for profits, with an annual turnover between $75,000 and $50 million who can demonstrate a 30% decline in turnover, will get help.
The payments will range from $1,500 to $10,000 a week, based on 40% of the enterprise’s payroll payments.
To receive the payment, eligible entities will be required to maintain their full-time, part-time and long term casual staffing level as of 13 July 2021
Non-employing entities such as Sole traders will receive $1,000 a week.
2) Business Grants by NSW Govt
a) 2021 Covid-19 Business Grant https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/2021-covid-19-business-grant
If you’re a business, sole trader or not-for-profit organisation impacted by the current Greater Sydney COVID-19 restrictions, you may be able to apply for a grant of up to $15,000 from 19 July 2021.
Eligibility is for businesses with a turnover from $75,000 to $50 million.
The grant can be used for business expenses such as rent, utilities and wages, for which no other government support is available.
Three different grant amounts will be available depending on the decline in turnover experienced during the restrictions:
$7,500 for a decline of 30% or more
$10,500 for a decline of 50% or more
$15,000 for a decline of 70% or more.

b) Small Business Covid-19 Support Grant https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/businesses-and-employment/grants-and-loans/2021-covid-19-support-package
Support as follows:
$10,000 for a decline in turnover of 70%, or more
$7000 for a decline in turnover of 50%, or more
$5000 for a decline in turnover of 30%, or more
eligibility as follows:
have fewer than 20 FTE (including non-employing businesses such as sole traders) as at 1 June 2021
have an Australian Business Number (ABN) registered in NSW or can demonstrate they are physically located and primarily operating in NSW as at 1 June 2021. Only one grant is available for a single ABN
have total Australian annual wages below the NSW Government 2020-2021 payroll tax threshold of $1,200,000 as at 1 July 2020
had an annual turnover of more than $75,000 for the year ended 30 June 2020
have not applied for, or received, the Hospitality and Tourism COVID-19 Support Grant
have business costs for which there is no other government support available.
c) Hospitality & Tourism Covid-19 Support Grant https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/businesses-and-employment/grants-and-loans/2021-covid-19-support-package
Eligibility as follows:
have an ANZSIC code that is classified as a tourism or hospitality business
have an Australian Business Number (ABN) registered in NSW or can demonstrate they are physically located and primarily operating in NSW as at 1 June 2021. Only one grant is available for a single ABN
have total annual Australian wages below $10 million as at 1 July 2020
had an annual turnover of more than $75,000 for the year ended 30 June 2020
have not applied for, or received, a 2021 Small Business COVID-19 Support Grant
have business costs for which there is no other government support available
This appears to be the same as the Small Business Grant just that it recognises that the Hospitality & tourism industries employ more than the 20 FTE employee threshold that applies to the Small Business Grant.
Benefits as follows;
$10,000 for a decline in turnover of 70%, or more
$7000 for a decline in turnover of 50%, or more
$5000 for a decline in turnover of 30%, or more
d) Micro Business Grant
A micro business has an annual turnover over $30,000 and less than $75,000
A grant of up to $1,500 from late July 2021.
e) Small Business Fees & Charges Rebate https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/small-business-fees-and-charges-rebate
If you are a sole trader, the owner of a small business or a not-for-profit organisation in NSW, you may be eligible for a small business fees and charges rebate of $1500.
Funds can be used to offset the costs of eligible NSW and local government fees and charges due and paid from 1 March 2021. These include, but are not limited to:
food authority licences
liquor licences
tradesperson licences
event fees
outdoor seating fees
council rates.
To be eligible for this rebate, small businesses (including non-employing sole traders) and not-for-profit organisations must:
have total Australian wages below the NSW Government 2020-2021 payroll tax threshold of $1.2 million
have an Australian Business Number (ABN) registered in NSW and/or have business premises physically located and operating in NSW.
Note: Only one $1500 rebate is available for each ABN
